Tag: information retrieval

Information Retrieval (IR) is “finding material (usually documents) of an unstructured nature (usually text) that satisfies an information need from within large collections (usually stored on computers)” (Manning et al., 2008). I’ve done research on IR in software engineering since I started my PhD studies, and had an IR professor, Birger Larsen,  in my PhD committee. In this tag I include also the broader concepts “information access” and “findability”.

My @icseconf.bsky.social 2025 trip starts now! It's a long one, and despite heading west, I'm relieved I don’t have to set foot in the US this time. Looking forward to meeting the community! #icse25
